Viewing Album:  CSX Derailment at CP 188 in Fonda, NY

Album Info:On June 27, 2013 shortly before 08:00 hrs, a train derailment on the CSX Transportation Mohawk Subdivision occurred at CP 188 just west of the Village of Fonda, NY. The Q641 and Q364 were involved. The exact caught remains under investigation. However, the events the lead up to the collision are pretty clear. The Q641 was proceeding west with a limited clear signal at CP 188 crossing over from track 1 to track 2. A bit earlier the eastbound Q364 had called a clear signal at auto 193. They were never heard at auto 190. Shortly after the Q641 began crossing it's train over, the Q364 ran into it mid train causing the wreckage. Fortuantley, only two crew memebers were reported as having mnor injuries.

Description:  Engine 5394 has been lifted from the wreckage and is missing the rear truck. Sidwinders lift the rear of the engine in preparation of the workers rolling the rear truck back in place.

CSX 5418

Description:  The power from the Q364 has all derailed and fell into the ditch between the mainline and NYS Route 5. The lead engine was CSXT 4759 and can barely be seen to the right of the 7732. Luckily, the crew on board only recieved minor injuries.
